Design concept

Design project for the reconstruction of an existing dining hall building into a 3-star hotel as part of the Berezki resort complex that covers 4.7 ha.

Site layout

The site is located in Popovka village near Gabovskoe rural settlement, Dmitrovski district, Moscow region. The land plot has a central axis that spans from the main entrance of the future hotel and all the way to the plot’s border. The main alley goes along that axis. There are several recreational areas with benches, flower beds, and miniature fountains. A parking lot for guests of the resort is located at the site entrance.

The hotel is one of the main parts of the resort complex, it visually complements the park zone. The reconstructed building is located to the right of the main entrance of the complex, in front of the right wing of another future hotel for 300 persons.

The site is covered with vegetation. The design project provides for preserving plants wherever possible, introducing recreational areas with amenities in the building’s vicinity, and planting lawns with paved walkways.

Architectural concepts

The reconstructed building is to retain its dimensions, only an emergency staircase is to be added on the west facade, and the existing staircases on the north and south facades that lead to the accessible roof are to be dismantled.

The first floor contains the main entrance hall and the dining hall. At the entrance hall there is a security post, a primary inspection room, and the reception desk. The round dining hall of the restaurant changes its function under the new design. Now this section contains a cafeteria, a workout facility, offices, a conference hall, a visiting room, and service areas. The actual dining hall is moved to what used to be a coffee room. The building is equipped with a freight-passenger elevator. The kitchen/dining room also undergoes a minor change in layout. Specifically, the kitchenware washing room is turned into a tableware washing room combined with a food waste storage. This change was made due to there now boing two separate dining rooms, one for the cafeteria and one for the main dining hall.

The second and third floors of the building used to host a movie theater. This space is now separated into two levels, containing a total of 30 two-bedroom hotel apartments. Medical facilities are also located on both floors. The third floor houses a ventilation chamber. A staircase on the second floor leads to the accessible roof.
